## Calculator privacy and behavior

The interactive calculator runs in the browser. Amounts entered into the worksheet are not sent to or saved by worthi. A user can rename, add, or remove asset and liability rows; select one display currency; and copy, print, or export the result as CSV.

All values in one calculation should use the same currency. The calculator does not perform foreign-exchange conversion.

## Formula

Net worth = total assets − total liabilities.

Assets are things a person owns that have a current value. Liabilities are debts or amounts owed. If assets are larger than liabilities, net worth is positive. If liabilities are larger, net worth is negative.

## Common assets

- Cash and bank accounts.
- Investments and retirement accounts.
- Homes, land, and other real estate.
- Vehicles, valuable property, and business interests.

Use a reasonable current value rather than automatically using the original purchase price. For property that would be difficult to sell, a conservative estimate and a valuation note can make later comparisons clearer.

## Common liabilities

Liabilities may include current mortgage balances, credit card balances, student loans, vehicle loans, personal loans, taxes owed, and other debts.

Use the amount currently owed, not the original loan amount or the total of all future payments with interest.

## Worked example

Suppose someone has USD 25,000 in cash, USD 80,000 in investments, and a home worth USD 400,000. Total assets are USD 505,000. If the mortgage balance is USD 260,000 and other debts total USD 5,000, liabilities are USD 265,000.

USD 505,000 − USD 265,000 = USD 240,000 net worth.

The result is a dated snapshot. Keep the values, calculation date, currency, and important valuation notes together.
